The desert, an amazing unique experience

How can one describe the beauty of an experience like the desert?

It is simply impossible. I will just tell you about this trip as part of my life and as an unforgettable moment of connection with nature.

It all started when my father decided to move to Tunisia he immediately began to tell me about the beauty of these unspoiled places. Over the years I realized that I would have to visit him, until one day I decided to surprise him and book a flight.

When I arrived in Tunisia I got a wonderful welcome, my father’s girlfriend’s family welcomed me with open arms, I was incredibly surprised how open this population was to European tourism with sincere affection they welcomed me to their land.

After two days in the country’s capital we decided to go and visit the world’s largest desert, the Sahara. We drove over 600 km reaching one of the most remote places in the world. The salt lake of Chott el Jerid.

I had the first desert experience of my life. The heat and wind made me realize right away that it is not a hospitable place but at the same time it is extremely fascinating. The next day we finally reached the place I wanted to see since I was born. The Sahara.

After sunset I decided to walk alone to the dunes and that is where I experienced one of the most intense moments of my life as a photographer. Being alone in the middle of the desert at night was an unforgettable experience.I remember very well the sounds of the desert, the sound of the wind, the sound of silence. It is a very spiritual experience of great connection with oneself.

I spent all night photographing the beauty of this place staying focused was very difficult, I was all night admiring the vault of heaven trying to find answers to my questions about humanity, the planets, the universe, the stars, and everything beautiful nature has created.

In the morning of the next day I went to camp and and rested, I was very tired but the adrenaline was still keeping me awake and I had a hard time falling asleep. When I woke up I had a great story to tell, I had lunch with my father and didn’t stop for a minute to thank him, it was special to have had that experience knowing that he was sleeping not far from me.

Today I remember that moment with great intensity, it was the beginning of a fantastic journey through different deserts I was lucky enough to explore, and from that moment I also experienced the Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world, I explored these areas andreturned several times to Tunisia, bringing home a different memory each time, eating Berber food and experiencing the local culture.

Today for me the deserts represent an important experience in my portfolio I am fascinated by these places and want to explore new ones, discover their nuances, experience more in these places in hospitable but at the same time very fascinating
